Blood Heroes and Plasma TVs

An update on the 101 in 1001:

045 – Donate blood.
My workplace is holding a blood drive on Thursday. It’s on my list of things to accomplish, so I figured I’d give it a shot. I am not sure if I’ll be able to donate blood, but I do meet the general requirements listed. I’m over the age of 17, have generally good health, and am over the weight requirement of 110 lbs. I don’t, however, meet the requirements for the double red cells.

If I pass out, they’ll revive me with orange juice and crackers.

For those donating during March [via Blood Centers of the Pacific], there’s a chance to win a 50″ Plasma television. Seriously, plasma for plasma!

  • I want to. It makes me giddy and I love to help, but it’s never in my area :-(

I once walked up to a blood donation truck and asked how long it would take, and they said an hour or so because they had to prep but I had to go back to work.

  • Good for you!

My only suggestion would be to keep in mind you *might* feel weak for up to 2 weeks. That sounds crazy I’m sure, but I’ve only donated once because I would get easily tired and winded for 2 weeks after I donated! You have a car though, so that should help if you do feel weak :)
