What does hosting a Jurassic Park dinner party require?
A very creative mind, a LOT of dinosaurs and an amazingly well-planned menu! I recently attended my first true dinner and movie experience. A friend hosted her birthday dinner around the viewing of the first Jurassic Park movie, including dinner courses paired with specific movie scenes! So cool and creative. As we watched the movie, courses would be brought out on cue.
The tone was set for our revisit to Isla Nublar with dinosaur and movie decor – dino wine charms, inflated dinosaurs, dino napkin rings, movie ticket place settings and more. Plenty of fun photo ops for this girl!
The amazing birthday girl prepared the meal beforehand and assigned a few helpers to serve each course at the point in the movie designated. There were over 20 people in attendance, so it was quite the feat, especially for a formal sit-down dinner. Such a great idea and so well organized ~ it’s definitely something for me to aspire to!
Jurassic Park Dinner

“We’ve Got Dodgson Here!” ~ Roasted Pepper Tortilla Soup

“Chilean Sea Bass, I Believe” ~ Chef Alejandro’s Fish of the Day

“I’ve Had All These Sweets…” ~ Salty and Sweet Plantains with Spicy Tomato Aioli

“Dilophosaurus” ~ St. George Mojito Cleanser

“When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth” ~ Baskin’ Robbins Ice Cream Cake (not pictured)
I love themed dinner parties, so I’d love to some day host my own like this where guests are engaged with the movie through the meal. I’m not sure I’m up for the task of preparing all those courses, but it’d be fun to at least assign the courses to attendees. It’d be so much work otherwise!
Have you hosted or attended such an elaborate dinner party? What other movies would make great dinner + movie experiences?
