Little Things #05 – #09

Since Foodbuzz Fest consumed my life over the weekend, I’m catching up with the little things all in one post.

#05 – Parents forcing me to try everything at an early age.

We were not allowed to be picky. If it was on our plates or in our bowls, we were to eat it. If we didn’t like something, we would only have to eat it in small quantities, but we would have to try it anyway. Being exposed to all textures and flavors really opens up the palate.

#06 – Living on the coast where fresh, wild seafood is not difficult to find.

It also helps that there is a large seafood-eating population here, so for the most part, you know the stores are carrying only the freshest.

#07 – High metabolism!

It was a busy weekend of eating. Need I say more?

#08 – Stocked medicine cabinet at work.

#09 – Relatively good immune system.

It’s either allergies or I’m coming down with something, but the medicine cabinet is stocked, so I can fight the symptoms!

I wish I had the high metabolism! Give me that! :D My mom made me eat everything when I was a kid. probably why I eat almost anything now. Probably also why my sister is a pretty picky eater today.

For the foods that I really didn’t like, they would let me off the hook as long as I’d tried them. :P

I’m with ya on #9. I’ve never gotten the flu in my life… although I’ve definitely lied about having it to get out of doing things… ::hides::

Jealous of your metabolism! I’m grateful for all the food I was force fed as a young age as well. However, I think it taught me a ‘clean plate’ mentality that I’m afraid I will never grow out of!

I know what you mean re: “clean plate” mentality! I’ve been able to talk myself out of it through the years, and now I aim for eating until I’m about 80% full. Plus, I bring lunch to work, so instead of ordering another entree, I stop eating and just pack it up to go.
