Red Door Cafe is a quirky spot to have brunch in San Francisco.
With just a handful of 2-person tables, it’s not uncommon to see a line up the street before they even open up at 10am on the weekends. Closing four hours later at 2pm, it means you definitely have to put in the effort if you plan on eating there.
Ryan no longer lives in the neighborhood, so we couldn’t just roll on over with bedhead and in our pajamas. Instead, we arrived in Pac Heights on the early side, found parking, and stood behind a few people at the door. We were seated after a few parties in front of us, but within that first round of seating.
The menu can be offensive to some, but mostly it’s just fun and sassy. The food is beautifully plated.
Bring a friend. Get in line early. Enjoy a cup of coffee while you wait. The dining experience is as flamboyant and fun as the owner is!
