Hello people of the internet! Thanks for stopping by. I think San Francisco is one dirty city, but I love it here. I'm a 9-5er with a mission to eat, drink, and travel as often as my resources allow. Documenting it is part of the fun.

January 2012 Reflections

And just like that, the first month of the year is over. These reflection posts are a good exercise for me. They help jog the memory as I seem to forget more and more these days. It’s time to start taking some gingko biloba! Oh, that’s all what I did in the month!

January was…

Starting the year off with a museum hop. It was a quiet start to the year – the calm before the storm, I’m sure.

Exploring several parks around the city and the Bay Area with Sasha. My goal for the month [12 changes in 12 months] was to take her out every day. It has definitely paid off. She doesn’t give me as difficult a time each morning, and she sleeps when we do at night.

Having a blast at one of the Yelp Holiday Hangover parties.

Yelp Holiday Hangover

Learning how to use my camera in manual mode with Emily’s photography workshop. I haven’t had a chance to practice more since then, but I would love to squeeze in some practice before I head off to Costa Rica next month.

Fun 101 Photography Workshop

Sampling foods/drinks at Fancy Food Show and Food Fete this year. We chatted it up with members of the Oregon Cheese Guild and plan on checking out the Oregon Cheese Festival next month!

Chinese New Year was early this year. Lots of family time.

Keeping fit with weekly Zumba classes with the sister. It’s a lot of fun, especially since others aren’t really paying attention to what you’re doing, and you can just roll with it.

Spending so much money on travel this year. I don’t mind it too much, only wish I’d come across a winning lottery ticket. Priorities, people.

Did your January fly by like mine?

December 2011 Reflection

Here goes the last reflection of 2011. It is an exercise that I plan on bringing back for the new year because it serves as a reminder of all that was and was not accomplished throughout the month.

December was…

The car accident. It took a few weeks, but my baby is back. The auto body shop was great, calling me with updates and checking in with me even after I’d picked up the car. Really hope this doesn’t hit the insurance too terribly.

Crabsgiving

Crabsgivings. Several of them. We even had a menu.

Cookie-making party with friends.

Meeting my cousin’s brand spankin’ new baby.

Holiday parties, some with fancy dresses and others with the dogs.

Trying new-to-us local restaurants, such as Chenery Park.

Participating in Passports with Purpose 2011. I didn’t win, but a friend of mine did. Glad to have been a part of this great cause. The grand total was $89,159, which is $9,159 over what our original goal was.

Sea Forager Kirk Lombard

Hanging out with the Sea Forager. I still have to write about that afternoon of fun. It was my gift to Ryan for Christmas.

Celebrating Christmas with family near and far. After celebrating locally, we drove up to see Ryan’s dad and spend a few days with him. I do feel bad about not going up to visit as often as we used to, so we will try to do better this year.

Toasting the last evening of the year with friends at a nice low-key house party.

November 2011 Reflection

I know November isn’t even over yet, but I wanted to sneak this recap in because tomorrow is not only Wordless Wednesday, but I have an announcement to make.

November was…

Trying to blog every day. It was hard work, yo!

Worrying about Sashapants because she was having stomach issues at the beginning of the month. You know how new pet parents are…

Cirque du Soleil’s Totem! We scored some free tickets!

Foodbuzz Festival.

Visiting Magnolia Pub and Brewery for the first time.

IFBC in Santa Monica.

Getting a new camera and a Dyson! WOO! My bank accounts hate me, but at least I’m good for that amount of money.

A tea party/housewarming party!

Learning about gray water.

Finally sending off origami cranes to Mari. You should send them some too if you’re into folding them. Get in touch with me for details!

Several Thanksgiving dinners in one day.

Happy hour at Speakeasy Brewery and possibly ending up with a place to crash near Yosemite early next year?!

An unintentionally rice-themed birthday party with birthday candies [not candles] for the sister.

A night at the Symphony with friends!

Past reflections: January. February. March. April. May. June. July. August. September. October.

NaBloPoMo 2011

October 2011 Reflection

What? Already November? Two more months in 2011? How did that happen? I signed up for NaBloPoMo, which means I will attempt to post every day in November. Wish me luck!

October was…

Boston for the first time.

Lunch with a very pregnant cousin – my first nephew!

Meeting up with some SF bloggers over a weekend to enjoy Fleet Week festivities.

Night at the Asian Art Museum with our wine club.

Catching up on Lego Harry Potter on the Wii.

Yan Can Cook at the Culinary Academy.

A birthday BBQ.

Dinner at Absinthe with internet-turned-real-life friends.

Eat Good Food talk at Omnivore Books.

Ryan’s pumpkin patch mishap, followed up by his wonderful birthday surprise – Ad Hoc.

Weekend on the Central Coast. Visiting Anacapa Island.

Past reflections: January. February. March. April. May. June. July. August. September.

September 2011 Reflection

September was…

New blog layout. Sorta.

Seeing a doctor after many years of avoiding them. Peeing into a cup after downing cups and cups of cold water, only to find out they needed just the little bit I could squeeze out before then.

A lot of places in a short amount of time. Adventures in Chicago that I am still writing about. Quick, but delicious, trip up to Portland to deal with the house. Getting on a plane, headed for BOSTON.

Making sh*t happen. Winning pans! Finishing a 5K one minute and 30 seconds faster than my last 5K. Gorging on dim sum afterward.

Sushi with a friend. Backyard BBQ at a friend’s house. Backyard BBQ at my house.

The crazy antics of Sasha. Learning that the only way we would get a full night’s sleep was if we spent all day tiring her out.

Finishing the first season of Mad Men.

How was your September? Only three more months in 2011!

Past reflections: January. February. March. April. May. June. July. August.
