Hello people of the internet! Thanks for stopping by. I think San Francisco is one dirty city, but I love it here. I'm a 9-5er with a mission to eat, drink, and travel as often as my resources allow. Documenting it is part of the fun.

#Reverb10 – Travel Photo Food

I created a Facebook page for [Super Duper Fantastic]. I haven’t yet decided what I will do with it just yet, but I will come up with something! I’d love it if you were one of the firsts to “like” it. :)

Prompt: Travel. How did you travel in 2010? How and/or where would you like to travel next year?

I traveled more in 2010 than I did in 2008 and 2009. This year, RV and I did a lot of driving around, and I’m foreseeing much more of it next year. We plan on making road trips up to the coast of Oregon, further up to Vancouver, and down to San Diego.

Prompt: Photo – a present to yourself. Sift through all the photos of you from the past year. Choose one that best captures you; either who you are, or who you strive to be. Find the shot of you that is worth a thousand words. Share the image, who shot it, where, and what it best reveals about you.

The photo I would pick is the one I am using on my site. It was taken during the barrel tastings earlier this year. I love this photo because 1) I’m jumping, and 2) I had such a great time doing it.

Prompt: Soul food. What did you eat this year that you will never forget? What went into your mouth & touched your soul?

Both meals at Zare at Fly Trap were pretty amazing.

Try Healing

Prompt: Try. What do you want to try next year? Is there something you wanted to try in 2010? What happened when you did / didn’t go for it?

You know that list of resolutions you make at the beginning of each new year? In 2010, I decided not to write that list. I wanted to see what would happen if I just lived.

The year went by quickly, and I didn’t feel guilty about not fulfilling things on a made-up list at the beginning of the year. I’m doing that again this year. I give myself a hard enough time as it is. I don’t need resolutions to remind me. Besides, I still have my list going.

Prompt: Healing. What healed you this year? Was it sudden, or a drip-by-drip evolution? How would you like to be healed in 2011?

Balance is healing.

Spending time with friends. Building relationships.

Then staying at home after many nights out. Curling up on the couch with a warm blanket.

Two #Reverb10 in One

Prompt: Friendship. How has a friend changed you or your perspective on the world this year? Was this change gradual, or a sudden burst?

I am constantly changing and growing, and I think that’s the same with the people I choose to surround myself with. Not one is stagnant, and so we’re always molding each other. A very generic answer, but it’s the truth.

Friendships go both ways. You won’t find very good friends until you become one.

Prompt: Lesson learned. What was the best thing you learned about yourself this past year? And how will you apply that lesson going forward?

Lesson learned – you can only truly be happy when you are content with who you are as a person. Becoming that person is what living’s all about.

#Reverb10 – 5 Minutes

Today’s prompt: 5 minutes. Imagine you will completely lose your memory of 2010 in five minutes. Set an alarm for five minutes and capture the things you most want to remember about 2010.

The first few moments in 2010. The frustration of being wired shut and consuming only liquids for months at a time. Appointments at UCSF. I wouldn’t give those up. Finally making appearances and seeing friends after hiding out for a bit. The unofficial housewarming parties. Barrel tasting after barrel tasting with the best of friends. Finishing the kitchen. The countless hours at Home Depot. Pismo Beach. Southern Utah. The national parks of Utah. Making deviled eggs. Sailing in the bay. The California State Fair. Toronto. Crossing Niagara Falls off my list. Trekking across Chicago for beer. Foodbuzz. More wine tasting with friends. Crabs, lots and lots of crabs.

#Reverb10 – Appreciate

Today’s prompt: Appreciate. What’s the one thing you have come to appreciate most in the past year? How do you express gratitude for it?

In November, I wrote a series of gratitude posts.

It was difficult choosing just one, but I suppose what I have come to appreciate the most in this year has been my family and the security that my parents provided all these years. I’m finally “on my own,” yet they are always 100% behind me. I express my gratitude by making a conscious effort to let them know how important they are in my life and of course, spending more time with them when I can.
