Watermelon Burp

Believe it or not, last night was the first time I’ve stepped foot inside of 21st Amendment Brewery in San Francisco.

Considering that it’s been around for about a decade and has been the venue of PLENTY of happy hours [tech-related and not], it might be a surprise to most who know me.

Then again, my first time at La Trappe [Tasty and extensive Belgian menu!] was just a few weeks ago with Pint Sized Musings.

Unfortunately, they were out of their root beer [which I would have loved to review for Root Beer Mania!], and their famous Hell or High Watermelon Wheat was only available in the can. I ordered it anyway. They provided the glass and a watermelon slice.

Crisp. Refreshing.

The watermelon flavor is subtle, at least until you burp.

  • 21st Amendement is a convenient meeting place but I don’t think the food is that great. The beer selection is it’s best feature. Nova, next door, has much better food IMHO.

    • Yeah, we had the Moules et Frites, which were alright. I was surprised that
the dried mustard flavors didn’t stand out at all to me, so that’s a good
thing. They were served with thick-cut garlic-salted fries, which were
perfect for dipping. Nothing else on the menu really stood out, but yes,
they have a good selection of beer. I’ll have to try Nova some time. :)
      Thanks for the recommendation, Kara.

Well, I’m not that surprised. Some US states don’t let you drink until you’re 21, so you’d only have been allowed for a year or 2 anyway!

Personally, when it comes to wheat beers, I like mine cold, cloudy and Bavarian!

  • I’m not a fan of wheat beers and I like their IPAs more, but I’d really love to try this one again! I miss warm summers and watermelon.
