Earlier this month, I received a pair of Heelys for review. That’s right – the shoes with the wheels on the bottoms of the heels and a clutz like myself! It was a disaster waiting to happen, but I love trying new things, so I gave it a go!
Heelys has a lot of how to information on their website, so I watched one of those before getting started. It helped in the sense that I knew what I was supposed to do, but I don’t think I really got it.
They look like shoes I would wear, even though my feet are huge, and I had to pick a men’s size. If my feet were a little bit smaller, I would have opted for the pink and black ones. Overall, the shoes were comfortable and light, definitely way better than having to wear rollerskates or rollerblades.
I thought about doing a video for this review, but I couldn’t even stand on my heels. Ryan held me up the entire time, and there weren’t really any more hands available for holding video cameras and such.
The Not So Good
My lack of skill. It will take a LOOOONG time before I master rolling on these shoes. I can walk on the balls of my feet just fine, but using the wheels is not a very natural feeling for me. I wish I had these shoes when I was younger and wasn’t as high off the ground! I can definitely see how these would be fun for kids.
Thank goodness for being dual purpose. After my legs were tired of the rolling option, I went back to walking normally.
You’re probably more skilled than me, so…
For those of you who want to give this a go, Heelys is throwing a Black Friday special! Between Nov 25-Nov 28, buy any pair of Heelys, get the second pair for $25. Or buy a Nano, and get a pair of shoes for $25. Free ground shipping on all orders.
Disclosure: I received a free pair of Heelys for review. All opinions in this post are my own.
