Many have been raving about how great Zero Zero is. It’s a new-as-of-August Neopolitan style joint. We went late last night with some friends to check it out. The verdict: Good, but not great. In fact, maybe just okay. Perhaps it’s because I didn’t grow up eating a lot of pizza. Maybe my pizza standards are different? It tasted fine, just not knock-your-socks-off great.
It all looked amazing though.
Valencia [think it’s the Mission on their menu online] – Broccoli Rabe, Olive, Calabrian Chile, Roasted Garlic, Crescenza and Mozzarella.
A little on the blurry side, but I enjoyed the broccoli and the roasted garlic. The minimal toppings slid right off the pizza as each slice was transported from the main plate to our individual ones. So sad.
Fillmore – Hen of the Woods Mushrooms, Leeks, Mozzarella, Parmesan, Pecorino, Fontina, Garlic and Thyme
Definitely the most flavorful of the three pizzas, but still, it just tasted like mushrooms. Nothing more.
Seasonal Special : anchovies
My favorite part of the meal: Roman Style Gnocchi, Slow Cooked Pork Belly, Crispy Broccoli, Poached Egg, Harissa.
There probably won’t be a revisit. It’s not bad. There are just too many okay places in San Francisco.
On the topic of confessions, thank goodness for spellcheck on the internet. I love that it works across the board – in WordPress, in GChat, in emails. It highlights the potentially incorrect words, and I’ll go into Google and search for the correct spelling!
If I have no idea what something is, I’ll look it up on Wikipedia so as not to appear completely clueless. I’m not on top of the news as most people who are on the internet every day should be, so sometimes I have to do a little recon by checking Wikipedia. I love using the Wiki app on my phone, but my phone is so slow that it just takes too long to look up anything on the spot. I need an upgrade in 2011!
I am an obsessive email checker. My inbox usually can’t keep up with how quickly I go through my emails. I also obsessively check a lot of other things on the web. :/ It couldn’t possibly be normal.
